DIEGO SIMEONE has snubbed interest from Chelsea over replacing Antonio Conte – but would “consider an approach” from Manchester United, according to reports.

The Times claim Atletico Madrid boss Simeone is reluctant to put the time in to learn English and prefers a “Latin lifestyle”.

However, after holding talks with United bosses over replacing David Moyes back in 2014, Simeone is said to still have one eye on managing at Old Trafford because of the size of the club.

Under-pressure Conte recently reiterated his desire to see out his Blues deal – which has another 18 months to run.

And he has told Italy to forget about him coming back to manage the national team.

Simeone has two-and-a-half years remaining on his Atleti deal and will either stay put to oversee what is expected to be a big rebuilding job or seek new challenges in Italy.

It is thought Inter Milan remain keen on bringing their former player back into the fold.

Jose Mourinho last month signed a new Manchester United deal keeping him at the club until 2020.

That is when Simeone’s contract at the Vicente Calderon expires.

Simeone sat down with United chiefs on the eve of Atletico’s Champions League semi-final against Chelsea in 2014.

But the Argentine did not take up the job offer then because he was said to be unwilling to commit to them at that stage of the season.

United eventually turned to Louis Van Gaal.

It would appear that Stamford Bridge bosses are looking to plunder La Liga alumni for their next manager.

They have also earmarked former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique as a possible replacement for Conte.
