Ed Sheeran’s engagement to his very private girlfriend of two years, Cherry Seaborn, has surprised everyone – except possibly Taylor Swift.
In Taylor’s song End Game released November 14, 2017, Ed Sheeran has a verse where he cryptically revealed to the world that he was planning to propose.
Ed Sheeran’s verse in Taylor’s new song is as follows:
Knew it when I was young
We connected when we were little bit older
Both sprung, I got issues and chips on both of my shoulders
Reputation precedes me, in rumors I’m knee deep
The truth is it’s easier to ignore it, believe me
Even when we’d argue, we don’t do it for long
And you understand the good and bad, end up in the song
For all your beautiful traits, and the way you do it with ease
For all my flaws, paranoia, and insecurities
I’ve made mistakes, and made some choices that’s hard to deny
After the storm, something was born on the fourth of July
I passed days with a thumb, this end game isn’t won
With four words on the tip of my tongue, I’ll never say
The verse seems to be about the couple based on a few key lines.
Firstly, Cherry and Ed met at school, ‘Knew it when I was young’.
But they didn’t get together until 2015, ‘We connected when we were little bit older’.
This delay was because she moved to America for college which seems to be alluded to by the line, ‘something was born on the fourth of July’.
If he is singing about his now fiancée, the line, ‘four words on the tip of my tongue’ carries special significance as those four words are almost certainly; ‘will you marry me?’
This means that Ed and Talyor Swift hid his intentions in plain sight weeks before he is rumoured to have proposed.
The song was released in November and Ed is believed to have proposed on New Year’s.
The theory has added weight because this isn’t the first time that Swift has taken an interest in Ed’s relationship.
Back in 2016 Taylor Swift threw a party for Ed and Cherry’s first Anniversary:
To be honest, that is a bit bizarre that. Anniversaries are supposed to be a bit private, also you’re definitely not supposed to outsource the work of planning the party.
I’m no expert in matters of the heart but that just seems pretty lazy.
Also, the party looks absolutely crap. There are literally five people there. My mate Dave had more people round his celebrating his garden shed’s first birthday.
Then again, that was a hilarious idea of Daves and everyone knows he throws a mad one whatever the occasion.
Dave doesn’t even have the advantage of being an internationally recognised popstar. He’s just a man who loves his shed.
Maybe being famous means you can only invite other famous people to parties? That sounds awful. No wonder there are only five people at Taylor’s rubbish party.
What do you think? Is Taylor taking an unhealthy interest in Ed’s relationship or is that perfectly normal behavior and I’m totally out of touch with the times?
